adapted from http://www.netaddiction.com/articles/symptoms.htm (:

yeahhh , (: the web also says that if you've answered yes to more than 5 of these questions, you're definitely addicted.

the role of the internet is not that essential to my life as a student yet. of, and for your info, i got 2 'yes' to the questions above haha. i use the computer for blogging, friendster, project information researching . i stay online longer than intended, cause i really don't feel like shutting down and doing my homework. when my parents come home, and asks me how long i've used the computer, i've always been very general and evasive and say like 1 hour, cause i dont want them to scold me .

however, i know of some friends who switch on their computers straightaway after they get home, and stay online for ages until they go to sleep. and that's around 5 hours per day!

electricity rates have gone up, and we're all using our parents' hard-earned money, wasting it little by little. what a pity, D:

staying online for the whole day has many disadvantages,

firstly ; your eyesight will worsen.

secondly ; your relationship with your family will suffer, cause you'll be so busy with the computer that you'll neglect your relations .

thirdly ; you'll keep thinking of what you're going to do online and won't pay attention in class, your results will suffer .

fourthly ; if you're too addicted to the internet to shut down your computer, your sleep will be affected and you'll be sleepy the next morning .

from the same website abovementioned :

Internet addicts engage in the same lying about how long their Internet sessions really last or they hide bills related to fees for Internet service. These same characteristics create distrust and over time will hurt the quality of once stable relationships.

well yeah. you get the point. it affects relationships real badly .

that's all ! recognise your symptons, and don't get hooked on the internet (:
